CHARTCARE’s team includes:

Karim Kanji, MBA, CMA, President & CFO

Prior to joining CHARTCARE, over the course of 15 years, Karim had held several senior administrative positions with Siemens Canada, his last being VP Finance. He has also served on the board of VATech. Karim has developed a strong background in growth-oriented businesses, and is well versed in rapid market expansion as well as in merger and acquisition strategy.

Karim holds a Masters of Business Administration degree, an EMBA in Advanced Management from Duke University in North Carolina, and is an accredited member of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.

Dennis Niebergal, ICD.D, Founder & VP Industry Relations

Dennis co-founded CHARTCARE and has been instrumental in the growth of the company ever since. Dennis continues to be a thought leader in the healthcare informatics marketplace and has dedicated over 25 years to building and promoting the value of Electronic Medical Records in North America and internationally. 

Dennis held a number of increasingly senior computer programming and management positions with several firms from 1976 to 1983. As manager of software development, and later general manager, of Mits Computer Systems Ltd., he was responsible for the development of the Medcis system, a medical practice information system.  Dennis served as President & CEO of CHARTCARE from 1984 to 2008.

Dennis graduated in 1976 with an Honours Diploma, Business Administration, with a major in Computer Science, minor in Accounting.  Dennis achieved his certification by the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2008.

Dr. William Haver, Board Member, Medical Advisor

Dr. William Haver is a family physician. Dr. Haver chairs CHARTCARE's Software Steering Committee and sits on CHARTCARE's board of directors. Dr. Haver and his associates have been using CHARTCARE's information technology in their medical practices since 1984.

Don Martin, COO & VP Software Development

Don joined CHARTCARE, Inc. in 1999 and is responsible for the delivery of all software development projects.

Don has held a number of positions within the information technology sector, working in a variety of industries, including the provincial government sector, oil and gas, municipal government, small business, medical and more recently, telecommunications.  His IT technical skills range from hands-on development in a variety of environments through project management up to Senior IT strategic planning.  Don assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer on an interim basis in June of 2008.  The COO is responsible for all of Operations (Client Services, Technical Services and Development).  This new role was introduced so that the Operational Departments work more closely together and have a more coordinated effort as CHARTCARE continues to grow and move forward.

Don graduated with an Honor's diploma in Computing Science in 1972. In 1998, he completed his MBA.

John Fitzgibbon, VP Sales & Business Development

John joined the CHARTCARE team in 2007 and is responsible for all Sales and Business Development activity.

John has played key roles in a number of positions within the healthcare information technology sector for organizations who achieved significant growth including Soft Computer Consultants (1992 - 1996) and Triple G Corporation (now a division of General Electric Healthcare, 1996 - 2005). In concert with business growth, John has been directly involved in business start-up and business integration via merger and acquisition.

John graduated from Stony Brook University School of Health Technology and Management, located on Long Island in New York, in 1991 with a Bachelors of Science degree and a professional certification in Clinical Laboratory Sciences. In 1999, John was a recipient of the School of Health Technology and Management 'Distinguished Alumni Award'.

Fred Hobday, C.A., Controller

Prior to joining CHARTCARE, Fred was a self-employed professional, providing contract accounting services and teaching Accounting part-time. Previously, he was the Comptroller for a full service hotel; and before that was the Controller for an international franchiser of family restaurants.

His current responsibilities at CHARTCARE include the preparation of all financial statements, forecasts, capital budgets and tax reports, management of administration and liaison with Company lawyers and accountants.

Fred graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a Chartered Accountant.

Russ Pastorchik, Senior R&D Manager

Russ is responsible for the design and development of enhancements to the Electronic Medical Records family of applications and anticipating the need for competitive features in relation to the industry.

Russ joined CHARTCARE as a development programmer after graduating with a Diploma of Technology in the Expert Systems option. Prior to becoming Manager, Russ was the Senior Programmer/Analyst for the CMR, Patient Registration and WordCare applications.

Deane Atkinson, PMA Products Manager

Deane graduated with a Diploma of Technology in the Business Computing option in May 1978. After graduation, he joined MAI as a Programmer and worked his way up to Programming Manager. After 2.5 years with MAI, Deane setup as an MAI Subcontractor / Business Partner for the next 8 years. Subsequently, Deane operated as an independent software developer for 6 more years prior to joining CHARTCARE in 1994.

Deane works with the development programmers/analysts to continue the evolution of CHARTCARE's products. He also manages our Custom and Funded Development projects, especially with respect to EDI Interfaces with medical laboratories and hospitals.

Brent Mitchell, Marketing Manager

Brent started his career in the pharmaceutical industry with Glaxo Pharmaceuticals where he developed and implemented several strategic marketing plans for the promotion of pharmaceuticals and other medical products to healthcare professionals. Brent left Glaxo to become a principal in Media Advertising Ltd., a healthcare advertising agency. As Executive Vice-President, he directed strategic public relations and advertising campaigns for a number of multinational pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Prior to joining CHARTCARE, Brent was President and founder of Medco Healthcare Products Inc. Medco has distributed a variety of home healthcare products to retail pharmacies and home healthcare stores since 1990.

Brent graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.
